“I was eating at odd hours and the weight just piled on.”

At 29, I was juggling holding down a full‐time job while also attending college. My schedule had me up at all hours, either studying long into the night or working a late shift. To stay awake I relied on coffee and food—anything to keep me going.

I knew my weight was slowly getting out of control but I was focused on other things. So I did the next best thing. I wore anything in black to hide my weight, including yoga pants and sweatshirts. I figured that after graduation, my schedule would lighten up, I’d relax and that the weight would just fall off. After all, that had always worked for me in the past.

With school now behind me, I was ready to focus on taking the weight off but nothing seemed to work. I tried going the no‐carb route, eating only salads for lunch and cutting out that glass of wine. Even walking a bit at night didn’t seem to keep the pounds away. Instead of losing weight, I continued to gain an extra five here and there. I made an appointment with my doctor to see if something else was going on. All of my test results came back normal.

It was time to come to terms with the fact that I couldn’t lose weight on my own. Remembering the success a family member had on Nutrisystem, I reluctantly placed my first order. I didn’t have much faith in it but after one month I was stunned by how dramatically different I was feeling—and it just kept getting better and better. I stayed focused and continued to lose weight through the holidays. Now, even eating out a couple of times a week doesn’t derail me. No more yo‐yoing for me—I ‘m back in control.
