If your work involves sitting down all day, you have a higher risk of gaining weight than someone who constantly uses physical movement for work.

This is probably because of the existence of technology and machines that perform the job that people used to do manually. Although innovations have made life easier for you and for a lot of individuals worldwide, it is not entirely beneficial.

Lack of physical workout or sedentary living eventually leads to obesity. Instead of burning fat molecules for energy production, your body stores accumulated fats because your body does not need energy when it is at rest. This means that since your job entails you to sit all day without exercise, your energy reserves will eventually become fat reserves that will add to your weight.

High Risk Groups

Studies by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have also revealed that certain individuals have higher risks of developing obesity based on gender and race. It is found in a research that women, compared to men, have increased tendencies of gaining weight over a given period of time.

Experts explain that this is linked to the fact that men perform more vigorous physical activities compared to women who only perform moderate actions.

Additionally, compared to other ethnicity, black and Hispanic women are also found to have higher risk of developing obesity over white women in all income groups. Rates are between 7 and 20 percent higher.

  1. I sit all day because of work. There’s nothing I can do about that but I do my best to spend an hour each day to exercise. It’s a must do for me, no matter what. Of course, it counts that I eat healthy and I think Nutrisystem is a good diet to try. But for me, it’s critical that I exercise every single day.

  2. It’s bad enough to sit all day. It’s even worse to munch on junk food while working. But then, there are times when I really can’t avoid it. However, I’m really trying my best to snack healthy as much as possible.

  3. I think most of us have jobs that entail us to sit all day. That’s precisely why we all need to eat right. Aside from that, we really need to exercise. Eating right and exercising are not just trends anymore. They’re all part of a lifestyle that we should follow.
